The hinoki (Japanese cypress) scent is woody and calming, ideal for relaxation & meditation. The scent has a sophisticated association due to the use of hinoki in timeless interiors. The incense is dyed with natural ingredients, resulting in a minimal grey that transitions cleanly into ash.
Uzumaki incense, which translates to ‘swirl,’ has a slow burn time of 35-40 minutes, offering you a longer-lasting option. The Uzumaki shape can be commonly seen as "katorisenko" which are incense used as bug repellent. About the makers
This incense is brought to you in collaboration with the Fukunaga family, a business carrying a legacy of over 120 years. Based on Awaji Island, the region is known for being the original birthplace of incense in Japan.
The history of incense in Japan dates back to an April day in 595 AD, according to The Chronicles of Japan (720 AD) when a piece of aromatic wood drifted to the shores of Awaji Island. With its year-long warm climate and ample sea breeze, the island is an ideal place to dry the incense - a crucial process in its making.

How to burn the incense
- Ignite the tip of the incense with a lighter or a match.
- Blow out the flame after a few seconds.
- Place the incense on an incense plate with the enclosed inflammable mat or directly on the ash of an incense pot.
