FREE SHIPPING on orders USD 300+
Transform any area in your home into a seating area with these handwoven Enza, a timeless piece that seamlessly blends in with modern interiors.
While traditionally found in temples and used for meditation on the floor, they can also be placed on benches and hard-surface chairs or even be used as wall decor to showcase the intricate and beautiful weaving.
With the decreased use of Enza, it has become difficult to find those made in Japan and of high quality. We feel proud to be able to introduce them, made by our friend, Mitsuru Yokoyama. Find more information about the artisan below.
Also available in Mitsuru Yokoyama’s signature black and grey hues.
Items marked as preorder take approx. 3 weeks to ship.
ABOUT THE ARTISAN
Mitsuru Yokoyama’s path to tatami-making was born out of his desire to share, transmit, and reconnect with Japanese culture, having spent many years in Australia, the United States, and Europe. After studying rigorously in school and as an apprentice under multi-generational tatami craftspeople, he became the first in his own family to take on the craft. Seamlessly weaving together Japanese heritage and modern design, his tatami panels have garnered the attention of top restaurants, private clients, and world-class design fairs, including Milano Salone and Maison et Objet. Expanding ways to use the same material as that of the tatami, igusa rush grass, he learned weaving techniques to make Enza from a female master in Hiroshima.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Avoid placing it in a humid environment for an extended period of time as it will result in mold growth. If you find some mold, brush it off and wipe the enza with a cloth slightly moistened with ethyl alcohol.
Also, avoid leaving it out under the AC for an extended period of time as the dryness will create tears.
From time to time, place it by the sunlight and efficient airflow for a few hours to maintain its condition.
