A rare, antique bamboo, Susudake is sourced from beams of old thatched-roof houses, where it has been naturally smoked for decades, sometimes over 100 years. This deepens the bamboo’s color into warm caramel and brown tones, making it a material treasured for both its beauty and history. Variation in the aging process means that there is a range of tones, color layering, and gradients.

Designed for comfort, the octagonal shape provides a natural, ergonomic feel in the hand. The subtle angles offer just the right amount of grip without fatigue, making them ideal for enjoying extended meals. A holder is included with each pair of chopsticks, this doubles as a rest to use whilst you eat.
