The hon-komatsu stone is sourced from hardened lava left from an eruption 400,000 years ago. This lava flow exists in just one town, which is home to the oldest stone industry in Japan.

Disclaimer

Due to the nature of the stone and the design, there may be small scratches, scuffs, chips, or color variations, but these are not considered defects.
The holes for the flowers and the bottom are waterproofed. A petroleum-based solvent is used to maintain the waterproofing for a long time, so there will be a petroleum smell after the solvent is applied, but the smell will gradually go away.
If you pour water on areas that have not been waterproofed, the stone grain will become clearer and you can enjoy a more profound expression.
