The Patol Stool utilizes traditional joinery techniques to firmly assemble its slender wood parts, ensuring the stool remains extremely lightweight and easy to carry.

Crafted from Kyoto-grown hinoki trees (cypress), the stool’s minimal form creates a modern effect, suitable for any space in the home.

Repairs

The leather used in the Hirayama stool is a natural material that will evolve through time and use. The lifespan of the stool’s hinges will vary depending on level of maintenance performed by the stool's owner, however, the string hinges may eventually need replacing.

Maintenance

The Hirayama Stool is designed to age beautifully with use and maintenance. Be aware that leather is liable to crack through dryness and wear. To avoid this, the leather need to be moisturized. Simple maintenance can greatly extend the lifespan of the Hirayama Stool. We recommend the use of Renapur Leather Balsam when caring for your stool.

Every 2-3 months, apply Renapur Leather Balsam to the stool using a cotton cloth. Spread the leather balsam thinly and evenly over the entire stool, including the string fasteners to ensure no areas are missed. Once the entire surface is coated, wipe it thoroughly with a clean cloth to remove any stickiness.
