From now until mid-November, bring a completely unique texture to your table and decor with pieces from Ōtake’s limited-run artist exhibit.

Ōtake erodes the sugi wood with sand, wearing down the soft parts of the wood and leaving the more durable rings in relief. This creates a unique texture that reflects the individualized characteristics of the wood. Just like the trees, no two pieces will be exactly the same.

The urushi and liquid glass coating protect the pieces from scratches and wear, and ensure they are food safe.

Running your fingers over the texture of the rings each time you use these pieces will connect you not only to the material itself, but to the legacy of Nara forestry, and the artistry of Ōtake’s work.
