Cast Iron Incense Burner - Tengai
Our most intricate incense accessory, this tengai burner is ornamental without being ostentatious. The cast iron material lends a groundedness to the detailing, creating a balanced and beautiful piece for any room.
This piece is made by Suzuki Morihisa, which has specialized in cast iron for 16 generations, and was made by the 13th generation of the family for the Chuson-ji temple. Cast iron has incomparable durability, making it the perfect material for hosting burning materials while ensuring longevity.
This piece includes the incense burner and a pack of white ash.
The burner is compatible with all forms of incense that we offer, so you can enjoy the full range knowing you’re getting the best aromatic experience.
How to use
Leaf, cone, and uzumaki incense can be placed on top of the ash to burn safely. Sen incense can be stuck in the ash to stand upright.
The burner can also be used for smokeless incense, where ash is used to help release the purest form of the fragrance from aromatic wood:
- Light a piece of charcoal and bury it under the ash.
- Aromatic wood chips are then placed on top of where the charcoal is buried, separated by a thin layer of ash.
- The heat will make the wood chips release the purest form of fragrance.
