Igusa Runner Rug - Asanoha

This rug features a new take on traditional materials. Igusa — rush grass used to make tatami mats and  enza — is woven with hemp to create a contemporary design.

These rugs are made on an old weaving machine that requires artisan supervision. The machine can only create one rug every 3–5 days, making each rug a rare work of effort.

The Asanoha pattern represents hemp leaves — an homage to the material used in the rugs. It also bears associations with growth and vitality. Be sure to check out the Yabane pattern as well.
