POJ (Pieces of Japan) Studio is an online platform built to bridge the gap between Japanese artisans and those consumers with a yearning for the hand-crafted homewares they produce. POJ Studio collaborates closely with craftspeople throughout Japan, creating an online collection of beautifully-designed lifestyle goods, offered alongside the stories of their creators.

POJ Studio fosters a socially-responsible attitude towards the way we live by providing modern lifestyle products that last, are repairable and are created from sustainable materials in a way that encourages the revival of dying Japanese craft traditions. We do this by building an ecosystem that offers the craftspeople with whom we work a point of sale for their goods, whilst celebrating stories of their heritage and sustainability in the form of videos, interviews and photo essays that help to highlight the true dedication and skill of each artisan. This not only offers the consumer a deeper connection to POJ Studio products, but also an explanation into the quality and history that goes into creating each item that they carefully curate and produce.

We are looking for a dynamic, design-minded individual who thrives at the intersection of craft, digital content, and e-commerce. This is a hybrid role combining photography and videography with e-commerce operations and creative brand development. You’ll act as a key liaison between POJ Studio and our pottery partner, contributing to both businesses—while being firmly part of our Kyoto-based team.

Responsibilities

• Support and eventually lead product photography (shooting, editing, uploading)
• Assist with lifestyle photography and campaign shoots under mentorship and direction of our Art Director
• Manage the Shigaraki partner's e-commerce website (content updates, product uploads, UI improvements)
• Coordinate with the kiln team to ensure smooth fulfillment of online orders
• Spend Sundays in Shigaraki to observe in-person sales and customer behavior
• Learn and take part in planning creative direction for product development and brand expression
• Facilitate communication between POJ Studio and the kiln, aligning both parties on schedules, visual identity, and priorities
• Help streamline basic logistics and customer service related to the Shigaraki online shop
• Provides timely and empathetic customer support by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience across all communication channels.

Successful candidates must:

• Japanese language proficiency required; English proficiency a plus
• Basic knowledge of photography or a strong interest in visual storytelling (experience with a camera a plus)
• Interest in craft and ceramics; passion for Japanese tradition and design a bonus
• Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Square, etc.) or interest in learning
• Experience with photo editing, visual tools (e.g. Photoshop, Figma etc.) or interest in learning
• Strong organizational skills and clear, proactive communication are essential to working effectively in our collaborative environment.
• As a small, agile team, we value individuals who thrive with a high level of autonomy and take full ownership of their responsibilities without the need for micromanagement.
• Comfortable working between two locations (Kyoto & Shigaraki)
• Driver’s license or willingness to obtain one (transportation to Shigaraki is required)

• アートディレクターの指導のもと、ライフスタイル撮影やキャンペーン撮影のアシスタント
• 信楽パートナーのECサイトの管理（コンテンツ更新、商品登録、UI改善など）
• 信楽パートナーとの連携による、オンライン注文のスムーズな出荷体制の構築
• 毎週日曜日は信楽にて現地販売や顧客行動の観察
• 商品開発やブランド表現におけるクリエイティブディレクションの企画・実行に参加
• POJ Studioと信楽の間の調整役として、スケジュールやビジュアルアイデンティティ、優先事項のすり合わせ
• 信楽オンラインショップに関する基本的なロジスティクスやカスタマーサービスの効率化
• お客様からのお問い合わせに対し、共感と迅速さを持って対応し、すべてのチャネルにおいてポジティブな体験を提供

応募条件

• 日本語での業務遂行が可能であること（英語力があれば尚可）
• 写真撮影に関する基礎知識、またはビジュアルストーリーテリングへの強い関心（カメラの使用経験があれば尚可）
• クラフトや陶芸への関心（日本の伝統やデザインへの情熱があれば歓迎）
• ShopifyやSquareなどのECプラットフォームの使用経験、または学ぶ意欲
• PhotoshopやFigmaなどの画像編集ツールの使用経験、または学ぶ意欲
• チームで円滑に働くための高い整理力と、明確かつ積極的なコミュニケーション能力
• 少人数で機動的なチームのため、自律的に業務を進め、自らの責任を主体的に果たせる方を歓迎します（マイクロマネジメントは行いません）
• 京都と信楽の2拠点を行き来する勤務体制が可能であること
• 普通自動車運転免許をお持ちの方、または取得する意欲がある方（車での信楽への移動が必要です）
