an introduction to kintsugi
Lead by our in-house kintsugi experts, we will guide your group through understanding the different materials used during kintsugi and performing the final stage of repair. Throughout this session, participants will apply metallic powder to a pre-prepared, ceramic vessel.
If you would like to host a kintsugi workshop at POJ Studio, we can fit a comfortable 8 and a maximum of 12 participants.
We offer the Rehearsal and Scene workshops for all groups. All necessary workshop materials will be provided by POJ Studio.

IN-studio handbrush workshop
craft a shuro palm brush
Shuro brooms and brushes are traditional Japanese household tools made with hemp palm. They are strong, durable, and effective in picking up fine particles on any surface.
In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to make your own Shuro hand brush with the guidance of a representative from Yamamoto Katsunosuke Shoten, the maker of our Shuro brooms and brushes.
If you would like to host a brush workshop at POJ Studio we can accommodate 6-8 participants.

POJ Studio can facilitate the hosting of kintsugi group workshops anywhere in Japan, and even internationally.
We offer the Rehearsal and Scene workshops for all groups. If you would like a deeper exploration of kintsugi, we also offer our 2-day immersive experience.
All necessary workshop materials will be provided by POJ Studio. Please include prospective participant numbers in your inquiry.
Please note that venue coordination, meals, and travel expenses are the responsibility of the organising group.

A POJ Studio kintsugi workshop or immersive experience can be hosted from anywhere in the world, please include venue and location details in your inquiry.
Please note, workshops at a venue of your own choosing are subject to different pricing.
Our studio can accomodate 8–12 people per kintsugi workshop and 6–8 per shuro brush workshop.
If you would like to host a workshop at your own chosen venue, please include a prospective participant number in your inquiry.
- Cancellation within 2 months before the class date: Full refund available.
- Cancellation within 1 month before the class date: 50% refund available.
- Cancellation 3 weeks before class: 25% refund available.
- Cancellation 2 weeks before class: No refund available.
All of our workshops are conducted in English as default. If you would like the workshops to be conducted in Japanese or French, please include the request in your inquiry.
Rehearsal Kintsugi workshops are 60 minutes.
Scene Kintsugi workshops are 120 minutes.
Shuro Brush workshops are 120 minutes.
Please note, for larger groups we may require an additional 15–30 minutes.
