CUSTOM AND TRADITIONAL
BRING YOUR DESIGN TO LIFE
Noren have been a part of daily life in Kyoto since the Heian period (794–1185). Now you can bring this tradition to your home or business with your own design.
Our artisan partners behind the Rōketsu-zome Noren are facilitating the design and production of custom noren. Using silkscreen and Rōketsuzome (wax-resist dyeing), they'll handcraft a one-of-a-kind piece for you.
Step 1: Fill out request form
Provide your details, design specifications, and additional notes on our Google Form. Please note you'll need a Google account (@gmail.com email address or an email built on Google's platform) in order to fill out the form.
Step 2: Get quote for design
Our artisan partners will review and interpret your design to provide a mock-up visual for you to review. You will also receive a quote for the design. If there are any tweaks to the design, you can provide feedback.
Step 3: Approve design
Once we land on a design that meets with your approval, the artisan team will queue your order and we will issue the invoice.
Step 4: Production + fulfillment
Once the invoice is paid, the artisan team will begin hand-crafting your noren. Current leadtime is 1.5~ months. Once completed, we will ship you the noren for you to enjoy in your space.
BASE QUOTE ESTIMATE
Choose your preferred size range and get a estimate for the base cost of your noren. You can specify your exact dimensions in the Google Form. Design fees are additional and will vary according to the complexity and size of the design.
