With its matte urushi finish, the plate will serve to make whatever cup or dish you put on it eye-catching. Over time and use, the finish will become glossy, allowing you to enjoy various surfaces.
ABOUT THE ARTISAN
The plate is handmade by a family-run business established four generations ago in Mie Prefecture. Entering the business as clay makers and sellers in 1913, the family has deep knowledge of the soil of the local area and how to develop it into clay that is most suitable for pottery. In 1972, they branched out into making teapots of their own.
