Miyagawa Mirror Stand

Sale priceDhs. 2,949.00

Produced in Mie Prefecture, known for its woodworking heritage, this mirror is the product of a collaboration between designer Kazuto Yoshikawa and a multi-generational family workshop that's crafted frames since 1946.

The design revives a dormant hinoki wood-bending technique, giving the mirror its unique shape. It draws the eye and anchors any space, making it a decorative element that serves as a focal point in your room.

This standing mirror can be placed on any stable surface — perfect for a vanity or a credenza — and comes in three finishes, so you can pick the style that suits the aesthetic of your room.

About the craftsmen

Kazuto Yoshikawa + Mie Workshop

Kazuto Yoshikawa, a Tokyo-based designer with deep roots in traditional Japanese woodworking, collaborated with a family-run workshop that’s been making frames since 1946.

The intention of the project was to preserve the hinoki wood-bending process the workshop used to create to frames that displayed calligraphy in tea rooms, but had since lain dormant.

The collaboration utilizes sustainably sourced hinoki wood from Toyota’s sustainably managed forests in Mie and applies the traditional technique to a modern and contemporary design.
