Kōdaiwan - Black
Kōdaiwan is a wooden bowl with modern matte finishing that highlights the beautiful pattern of the wood grains. This bowl with a high base has various uses - from breakfast and snacks to soup and salad.
Hand-carved using a lathe, it is made of one block of wood and finished with urushi lacquer.
Available in 2 sizes and three colors: brown, red, and black.
About the craftsman
Orchestrated by Gato Mikio Shoten, the Kōdaiwan is made by Kazuya Fujimoto, the former apprentice of Hiromichi Nakade, the maker of the Ōryōki bowls. After working for Japan’s Self-Defense Force, he decided to pursue a career in woodcraft - something in which he had always had an interest. Continuing the tradition of this craft, he is due to move into his own space and work entirely independently starting April 2023.
