Among the families who have long supported the region is the Okuda family, whose pottery lineage stretches back over 150 years.

The Okuda family takes on the significant cost of firing the region’s traditional noborigama (climbing kiln), a massive wood-fired kiln, and generously opens it up for use by local artists—helping to preserve both the craft and the spirit of community that defines Shigaraki.

We are honored to have collaborated with the Okuda-san and his team to create this unique tableware collection—an endeavor made possible only through their deep knowledge, remarkable skill, and unwavering commitment to their craft.
