Sekimori Shuro
Sekimori Ishi are Japanese boundary stones used to subtly signal that a path is closed or off-limits. Used in the gardens of tea houses, they help guide visitors along the intended path. They have long been an example of the Japanese tradition of communicating through subtlety and gesture.
These stones are made by the son of a tōrō tower maker, the stone sculptures found in traditional Japanese gardens. These towers use a very high-quality granite, mikage ishi. The son utilizes the offcuts to turn them into these guidance stones so that nothing goes to waste.
Choose your size and preferred rope color and use them as a decor object on your shelves, as a door stop, as a paperweight for your desk, or as their original purpose as boundary stones. The choice is yours.
