LinNe Furin
Originating as a buddhist instrument, orin have been adopted beyond their formal use and brought into every day lives.
Combining the charm and function of orin and furin, each chime made by Nanjo Kobo is unique and made by hand, therefore, no two sound exactly alike. Every instrument has its own one-of-a-kind tone and character.
To create one, a mold is carefully handcrafted from clay, filled with a metal alloy of copper and tin developed centuries ago where tin is added in the highest proportion possible to create orin bells with a clear and unwavering sound. It is then fired over a high-quality wood flame to produce a clear, resonant tone.
After firing, every piece is individually hand-carved and meticulously inspected to ensure its sound quality. Every step of the process requires the skill and experience of master artisans.
