Washi Dripper
About the product
This dripper is made of washi saturated in urushi — a precious natural resource that is waterproof, heat-resistant, and durable. The sheer quantity of urushi used in this dripper makes it a rare item, given the value of the lacquer. Pair it with the Bamboo Drip Stand.
About the artisan
Takuto Masuda quit his job to take over Shuzenji Washi, a washi workshop with centuries of legacy, but left without successors. Under his leadership, the workshop is engaging with creative projects where washi can explore new applications. The urushi lacquer comes courtesy of Sato Kiyomatsu Shoten, Kyoto-based lacquer specialists.
About the Kōgei Coffee Collection
Artisans who specialize in a diverse range of materials each contribute a tool for coffee preparation. The intentional process and interaction with the materials turn making coffee into a mindfulness practice.
